Experienced Education Leadership. Collaborative Reform. Accountability That Lasts.
For more than 30 years, Debra McIntyre-Sciarrino has dedicated her career to public education as a teacher, counselor, assistant principal, principal, and district leader. Now she's running to bring an educator's voice to the Board.
"Collaborate where we can. Reform where we must. Put students first in everything we do."
A Board built on collaboration, not conflict, because our students can't afford another lost year to dysfunction.
As Principal of Chatsworth Charter High School and its G+ STEAM Magnet, Debra has spent 30+ years uniting educators, families, and district leaders behind a shared focus on student outcomes. That's the leadership she'll bring to VCOE.

A 30+ Year Education Leader with a Record of Results
Debra has spent her career turning educational leadership into measurable results. As a principal and district administrator, she has led schools and systems serving thousands of students, improved graduation and academic outcomes, supported educators, and managed multimillion-dollar public education budgets.
She understands what a policy or budget decision means when it reaches a classroom, because she has served at nearly every level of public education.
Ventura County Is Home
Ventura County has been Debra's family's home for more than three decades. She raised her children here, they attended local public schools, and her own education career began in our community at Oak Park High School. She later served at Westlake High School in Conejo Valley Unified.
Debra is running to give back to the community that has been such an important part of her family's life, and to put decades of practical educational leadership to work for Ventura County students.
Reform VCOE. Protect Taxpayers. Keep Voters in Charge.
Recent events at the Ventura County Office of Education have demonstrated the need for stronger safeguards, greater transparency, and renewed public trust. Debra believes the answer is meaningful reform, not more division, and not taking accountability away from voters.
As a Trustee, Debra will work collaboratively to strengthen VCOE
She'll partner with the elected County Superintendent, fellow Trustees, employees, local school districts, families, and the public while insisting on the safeguards taxpayers deserve.
Accountability means fixing what failed, protecting taxpayers, and keeping voters in charge.
Defending Taxpayers & Protecting Education Dollars

Academic Excellence & Opportunity for Every Student

Exceptional Special Education
Strong Special Education services, appropriate access to the least restrictive environment, continuous program improvement, and strong transitions between programs, schools, and adult life.
Student Safety & Well-Being
Working with local districts, educators, families, public health and safety partners, and community organizations to strengthen prevention, education, intervention, and support.
Championing Teachers & School Employees
Competitive compensation, appropriate staffing, professional development, safe working conditions, and meaningful employee input for the people who serve students every day.
College, Career & Life Readiness
Support for Career Technical Education, Dual Enrollment, career exploration, and pathways that prepare every student to graduate with a plan.
Strong Local Partnerships
The County Office should be a strong partner to local school districts, not an unnecessary layer between communities and their schools. Debra will focus VCOE resources where countywide expertise and collaboration can make the greatest difference.
Our students cannot reach their full potential unless they are safe, supported, and ready to learn.
Meaningful education reform does not come from conflict for conflict's sake. It comes from experienced leaders who listen, bring people together, confront problems directly, and remain focused on results.
For more than 30 years, public education has been my life's work. I have served as a teacher, counselor, assistant principal, principal, and district leader. I have managed multimillion-dollar budgets, led schools through change, supported educators, worked with families, and helped improve outcomes for thousands of students.
That is the approach I will bring to the Ventura County Board of Education. I will work collaboratively with our elected County Superintendent and fellow Trustees to restore trust, strengthen taxpayer safeguards, and protect the resources our classrooms and most vulnerable students depend upon.
I will ask tough questions and insist on transparency and accountability, while respecting the voters' right to choose their County Superintendent.
I am running as an educator, a parent, a taxpayer, and a champion for public education. Together, we can strengthen the Ventura County Office of Education and keep its focus where it belongs: on our students.
